Activity summary

To address the limitations of existing intramuscular vaccines in reducing transmission and providing protection between different viral strains, the MUSICC (Mucosal Immunity in human Coronavirus Challenge) consortium will establish a comprehensive capability for the development and conduct of controlled human infection (CHI) studies with SARS-CoV-2 and seasonal CoV OC43, to establish correlates of transmission reduction, identify mechanisms of cross-protection and test the efficacy of new generation vaccines in protecting against infection and reducing/blocking transmission.
